Mainly used for black white film.
It is widely used when shooting landscapes and scenes in which the sky takes up a significant part of the frame.
By attenuating the flow of blue light from the sky, the yellow filter makes the sky darker in the final photo. Clouds appear clearer and brighter in the sky.
The yellow filter reduces the effect of air haze, which even on a clear day can be seen in the landscape from a distance.
In portrait photography, the yellow filter helps to reduce or even disappear freckles on the face.
Also, this filter enhances the contrast of chiaroscuro. This is easy to verify by simply placing the filter in the palm of your hand. The pattern of the skin through the yellow glass will appear more contrast and clear.
