In a classic color negative film, the emulsion layer sensitive to the red spectrum is exposed last, but when shooting on the red scale, being closer to the lens, it is exposed first. Due to this, the images acquire characteristic saturated red, orange and yellow shades.
Red scale is manifested by the native process of any color negative film - c-41
